PRECAST CONCEPTS
EXPERT ADVICE
Precast Concepts can guide you from concept to realisation with a coordinated approach and an understanding of the industry from design to production and then to construction.
Precast Concepts offers independent technical and conceptual design advice on the design and use of precast concrete. With over 25 years in the precast industry, our engineered solutions take into consideration every project parameter; from environmental factors and structural requirements, through to your final aesthetic vision.
Our specialty focusses on commercial, industrial and residential projects, where an off-the-shelf approach will not maximise your project’s potential. We have the industry connections and world-class training to help bring your project to fruition.
CUSTOM DESIGNS
With constant advancements in technology, precast can not only provide significant benefits structurally, but architecturally we can play with shape, colour and texture to achieve your aesthetic vision.
ENGINEERING
Structurally sound, creative and sustainable designs from a qualified engineer with over 25 years experience. Our advice strikes the balance between practical and aspirational for maximum impact and efficiency.
COMPLEX PROJECTS
There is no such thing as an impossible project. Our expertise is not limited to one type of structure or style, so we are ready for any project or challenge you have.
RETHINK THE MOULD
Historically, precast concrete was reserved for plain, industrial buildings and not relied upon for any kind of design aesthetic. However, with the recent developments in casting technology and the use of prestressing, precast concrete's versatility makes it an impressive construction material.
With the right experience and expertise, it is possible to produce precast structures to achieve virtually any design, with varied shapes, textures, and colours giving rise to a future of creative architecture like never before.
OUR PROJECTS
WHY PRECAST CONCRETE?
Precast concrete is produced by casting concrete off-site, in a controlled, factory environment. Once it has cured, gained strength, and been inspected, it is then stored, transported, lifted, and installed on site.
Unlike site cast concrete, precast concrete elements are produced in a controlled factory environment using advanced manufacturing techniques. These techniques provide the opportunity to ensure all elements are monitored by experts, and allows other benefits such as prestressing and architectural finishes to be completed in a controlled environment.
The opportunities for the use of precast concrete are practically limitless. Precast is highly versatile and can be used in a variety of applications, including;
-
Architectural panels that can also be used as structural support for all or part of a building's facade
-
Precast flooring systems that provide long clear span options
-
Precast framing systems that optimise the building's structural performance
-
Precast elements commonly used for landscaping, soundproofing, and security purposes
-
Civil precast, used for stormwater drainage, pits and pipes, tunnels, and large precast piers, crossheads, retaining walls and bridge beams
Using a precast concrete system offers many potential advantages over on-site casting:
-
Excellent quality control due to controlled conditions in the factory
-
Increased speed of construction on site - meaning less time spent in high-risk construction areas
-
Minimal temporary support and
back-propping
-
Minimal site debris
-
Low ongoing maintenance
-
Greater design capabilities and uniformity
-
More flexibility in design!
METICULOUS ENGINEERING
To achieve the most efficient and aesthetically pleasing design it is critical to consider all aspects of the project from the outset. Having experts who have the most up-to-date industry training and knowledge available, and are compliant with building and safety standards, will ensure the success of your project – from concept to completion.
SIMON HUGHES
FOUNDER & ENGINEER
Precast Concepts is the brainchild of Simon Hughes. Simon has more than 25 years of experience in Australia’s precast industry and has seen many changes over that time.
Simon is an active member of both Australian and International committees, representing, researching, and setting standards for precast use worldwide.
Simon has worked in concept design, structural design, and been actively involved in the production and installation of precast elements. This gives a rounded view and a strong understanding that can be beneficial to the client.
